The Hematite Lake claim group is located within Canada’s premier iron ore mining district, the Labrador Trough in map sheet area 24C/10. Preliminary investigations during 1975 and 1976 by Quebec Ungava Mining Company on the property area have outlined five zones of magnetic iron formation (Blackie Lake, Hematite Lake south, Hematite Lake north, Upper Peninsula zone, and Lake Junction zone). Two of these zones have significant iron ore reserves of 203.2 million tons and 88.99 million tons.
